FTX is being swept under the rug, because there are so many people of influence and public notoriety connected to it.
In the meantime, legislative and regulatory measures will progress, but there’s an interesting coin to it:
1) due to whitewashing campaign, the amount of public exposure this would get will be suppressed. One outcome is that this will result in the FTX episode being seen as “a crypto thing” that does not effect the rest of the world; this shields the space from criticism, but also deprives them of exposure to very necessary lessons in third-party risk. Example: I’m re-evaluating risk with the established banking/financial system and my own level of exposure (needless to say, my confidence is not firm.)
2) legislative and regulatory measures will move through more stealthily.
Extra: aside from the ability for users to be geoblocked by the managers of the protocol itself, now there’s identity risk with Metamask. My opinion is that if you’re a person that values self-custody, censorship resistance and privacy, don’t use it.
Keep educating yourself, and keep stacking- bear markets don’t last forever.
